Notching

Sko-Die’s state-of-the-art facility features 8 notching presses, including a VN8 Schuler notching press that runs over 1,000 SPM, has a range up to 43” diameter and has skew and skip capabilities. Our latest addition is a Positech C20 notching press that is equipped with a robotic feed. A typical lamination configuration has a cycle time of 5 seconds to notch and 3 seconds to unload and reload.

All notching is performed in-house, starting with a laser cut or compound die blank and then converting to a rotor or stator design configuration by individually stamping the features. The lamination notching process reduces upfront tooling capital expenditures and is good for low to medium volume lamination production.
