This expansion will enable us to further increase our manufacturing efficiencies which will ultimately benefit our customers. In addition to the news about our expansion, in this edition of the Sko-Die e-newsletter we will introduce you to three of our tool and die apprentices who are adding their talents to our unparalleled team here at Sko-Die. Thank You, Patrick Steininger
Meet Our Tool & Die ApprenticesFreddie Ramirez – Tool and Die Apprentice
Freddie has been part of the Sko-Die team for four years and is currently handling the maintenance and repair of progressive dies. Prior to working in the tool room, Freddie spent a year on the Sko-Die production floor and two years in the welding department. He just completed the first year of a three year apprentice training program through the Technology and Manufacturing Association (TMA). Freddie’s work experience prior to Sko-Die includes years in CNC machining, trucking, and the printing industry. He is goal oriented, and once he completes his tool and die apprentice training, he is interested in getting involved in tool design and engineering. “I like working with my hands, taking things apart and putting them back together. I enjoy the variety and challenges of my work at Sko-Die, as well as the opportunity to learn and advance within the company. They take a long-term approach and invest in employee training and provide us with the resources to do our jobs to the best of our abilities.“ Freddie is father to a twelve year old son and a seven year old daughter and spends his free time immersed in their activities along with working on his Chevy Impala SS. Jacob Herrig – Tool and Die Apprentice
Jacob has been part of the Sko-Die team since early 2018 and has been working with notching dies (inspecting, cleaning, and timing them to ensure smooth operation) as well as programming and manual grinding. He just completed the first year of a three year apprentice training program through the Technology and Manufacturing Association (TMA). Jacob’s diverse experience prior to Sko-Die includes years in customer service, panel building for CNC machines, and metal fabrication. He is a self-starter with attention to detail and an ability to grasp detailed processes. “I really like the people at Sko-Die. The company values our input and allows us to speak our minds and contribute. Every die is different in some way, and there is always something new to learn.” Jacob is a father to five year old twins (a boy and a girl) and a three year old son and loves spending time with them. He is an avid outdoorsman, enjoys painting and drawing, playing guitar and working on cars. AJ Dietenberger – Tool and Die Apprentice
AJ has been a member of the Sko-Die team for two months and is being exposed to a variety of things within the facility. He is currently working on spacers and bracket parts, assembling dies and learning terminology. He will soon be starting the TMA apprentice training program. AJ has a diverse CNC background and also spent time as a laser operator and brake press assistant prior to joining Sko-Die. He was searching for an apprenticeship and sought out Sko-Die because he saw the company as a great fit for him. He enjoys taking metal and turning it into something that has a function and purpose. “It is great working with everyone at Sko-Die. Whether it’s a seasoned employee or a fellow apprentice, everyone is very helpful and dedicated to helping each other excel. I have great mentors who give me guidance but let me do things on my own and learn.” In his free time, AJ enjoys lifting weights and spending time with his girlfriend.
