Meet Our Team

Jorie Smith

Jorie Smith
Customer Service Specialist

Jorie recently joined the Sko-Die team in June and brings with her years of experience as an inside sales and customer service professional in the steel industry.

In her role as Customer Service Specialist, Jorie corresponds with customers, handles order entry, and works on quotes with the Sko-Die sales and engineering team. She recently began getting involved with production planning for one of Sko-Die’s large customers, establishing workflow and machine allocation for optimal production efficiency. As her role continues to expand, Jorie communicates regularly with all departments from engineering and design to shipping.

“At Sko-Die I have access to a significant amount of data, which is fascinating to me and enables me to know and track how everything is connected. Machinery data is tracked by the second, and that is extremely valuable in helping manage jobs and keeping customers informed regarding status. I truly enjoy interacting with all of the departments and the open line of communication. We have a great team here at Sko-Die, and everyone goes out of their way to share their knowledge with each other so that we can achieve our goals as a company,” says Smith.

Outside of work, Jorie likes to read, do puzzles and watch movies. She was a member of the golf team in high school and recently started getting back to playing and enjoying the game once again.

Jasenko Rakanovic

Jasenko Rakanovic
Senior Process Engineer

Jasenko joined the Sko-Die team in early 2024, following over a decade of tenure in the steel industry as a design and pricing engineer. He earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial technology and management and his master’s degree from IIT.

As Senior Process Engineer, Jasenko begins his day with production meetings, managing workflow, and ensuring presses are optimally functioning and jobs are getting completed and shipped. He is continually evaluating processes and determining ways in which to improve and maximize overall efficiency. Jasenko also has been creating formal work instructions and protocols for operators to ensure processes are being followed consistently among the team.

“What I find unique about Sko-Die based upon my career perspective is the company’s broad array of capabilities and services. From fineblanking to notching, their attention to safety, and commitment to ongoing process improvements are second to none. In addition, the fact that we build our own dies in-house enables us to control overall quality. I really enjoy the open line of communications among departments and that everyone is more than willing to share their knowledge and help each other out,” says Rakanovic

Jasenko is the father of a son and daughter and enjoys being a dad and spending time with his family. In his free time, he likes to fish, tinker with cars and “make stuff.” He has always been handy and has benefitted from his skilled trade training he received as a teen growing up in Germany that covered everything from locksmithing, to fabrication, and carpentry.
